Montalcino, an ancient and fascinating Sienese village of Etruscan origin, is located on top of a hill about 600 meters above sea level among holm oak woods. Its verdant territory, bordered by Mount Amiata and the Orcia, Asso, and Ombrone valleys, is almost circular in shape so as to ideally identify four slopes, with different pedoclimatic characteristics (terrain, orientation, microclimate).
Vineyards occupy only a small part of the territory, particularly suited to the cultivation of Sangiovese, an ancient vine from which we produce the famous Brunello.Vineyards of our growers are located in all of the four quadrants which the territory of Montalcino is divided into, and this is a guarantee of excellent quality even in periods when the climatic conditions have not been favorable.

Its profile reminds of Sienese hills
Cantina di Montalcino has been founded in 1970 and it is the only cooperative winery in the Brunello area. Today it counts 94 members, small farms that treat about 160 hectares of vineyards, on average less than 2 hectares each, located between 120 and 650 meters above sea level. They are small growers: they produce quality grapes for a total of about 76,000 bottles including Rosso di Montalcino DOC, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Riserva. They work with care and dedication, coordinated by our technicians.
Renovation work began in 2000 and the old structure, consisting of load-bearing concrete tanks, was demolished and completely rebuilt. The architectural design now reminds of Tuscan hills: it is a unique reality in the area. The winery has become part of the Toscana Wine Architecture circuit which brings together 14 “design” wineries of the region.
Montalcino is located about 40 km South of the city of Siena, in a hilly area with an unspoiled landscape, that has been registered as UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004.
Our winery is a beautiful property surrounded by meadows, olive trees and the splendid vineyards of the Val di Cava. Once arrived you can visit the structure, taste and buy all the wines we produce.
